So it looks like The Duke Baxter Band is gearing up for an October trip into piles and piles of Autumn leaves. Vermont and Massachusettes in October isn't such a bad deal and I am looking forward to it.
One downer ... we will be without our Trombonist/Vocalist Elizabeth. She is on loan to Michael Bolton for the weekend. I am currently working around the clock to find a suitable replacement for the weekend, easier said then done.
The itinerary for the weekend will look something like this:
October 2nd (morning) - Lumber Liquidators Corporate Party in Boston.
First the morning drive through Connecticut to Darren's house. How I miss the Merritt Parkway. Ethan and I usually spend 2 of the 4 hours driving time on our cell phones discussing potential traffic jams, fallen trees and the like. You really can't underestimate how fun this actually is. I used to think traffic was a drag but I actually learn alot about how Ethan's family is doing during these times. Believe me this ... it comes out in our playing later. The bonding/communication that goes on during these drives enhances performance. It really does ... believe it Lumber Liquidators. Your party will rock harder then ever because of this.
October 2nd (afternoon/evening) - Upon arrival at Darren's house he will undoubtedly lead us to a great site for lunch. And then onto setting up gear and playing a killer show.
October 2nd (after party) - Picutre Darren in his underwear (if you dare) fixing late night pasta for 4 to 5 hungry band members. It doesn't get any better then this.
October 3rd (morning/afternoon) - Another drive from Arlington, MA to a TBD location in Vermont. I'm anticipating some great foliage. And Vermont always has the best wedding locations. I can't wait to see what this one looks like. We have played a few spruced up barns in Vermont in the past ... both were a whole lot of fun to play in.
October 3rd (evening) - A Saturday night wedding in Vermont. It seems right. It feels right. On any given Saturday night in October you ought to be able to find the Duke Baxter Band playing a wedding somewhere in Vermont. It just makes sense. And that's exactly where we will be. The world makes sense again. Freeze the moment. Freeze it. Ok ... time to move on.
