Newport Revisited

The Duke returned to Newport, RI last week. We had the honor of performing at Michael Brown and Julie Antignano's wedding.

Last time we hit Newport we were in this amazing mansion with a GOLD piano. Not real gold, as in Fort Knox Gold, but painted bright GOLD. And it was an old school looking thing. The story goes that legendary jazz great Count Basie used to hang out in this mansion a lot and would often give concerts playing this GOLD piano. Ethan took a few turns on it that night, but settled for his always tuned keyboard in the end.

Well this time we were at the US Naval Base in Newport and it did not dissapoint either. The campus was amazing to walk around. As you can imagine, I was a bit intimidated being on a naval base but everyone there was really nice to us. Once the party got started Michael and Julie and the rest of the guests were dancing early and often. The band just fed off the energy in the room and the party just shot off into the stratosphere. A true whirlwind. I remember looking out at the dance floor from behind my drums to see waves of people having a great time. Unbeatable.

But we'll try to beat it next week when we head up to Kennebunk, ME. Another party and more soul. I can't wait.
